Snow Joke Half-Marathon

Seeley Lake, Montana
(Started in 1980, the Snow Joke is the longest continuously running annual winter sport in Seeley Lake.)

Runners are bunched after the Snow Joke start.

Pat Caffrey, leader of the Cheeta Herders Athletic Club, whose membership consists of him and anyone who cares to join the fun, uses his gun to start the 13.1 Mile Race, signalling the end of winter in the Seeley Lake area.

The Annual
Snow Joke Half-Marathon usually starts at the Grade School Gym in Seeley Lake, winds around a marked course of one loop around the Lake where vistas such as this warm the hearts of enthusiastic runners. Around 100 runners, from near and far, participate with winners in each division being inducted into the Royal Order of Cheetah Rangers.

Registration for the race usually starts at 9:30 a.m., with a $3.00 registration fee. The start is around 11 a.m. T-shirts are available at an additional cost, and can be reserved by calling 677-2661. Race management furnishes mile markers, split times, medical standby and police patrol
