Seeley Swan Pathfinder
The Alpine Artisans of the Seeley Swan Valleys will honor their patrons, benefactors and members at a buffet supper on Tuesday evening, July 20 at 6:00 p.m. at The Emily A Bed and Breakfast. The guest of honor, Ginger Renner Ph.D., visiting guest lecturer at the University of Montana, will address the importance of sustaining the arts, especially in rural communities such as ours, and Abendigo will present an evening of Blue Grass music.
Dr. Renner is an expert on western art. She has managed art galleries and museums throughout the Western United States and has presented seminars from coast to coast on Western Art and the art of Charles M. Russell. She has carried on the major field of research and authentication of Russell, and in that capacity serves as advisor to major art auction houses and consultant to galleries, museums and collections. She has served as an expert witness of the IRS in federal tax cases and serves on numerous committees, advisory boards and has received prestigious awards for her expertise. Her summer course, "Art, Artists and Adventurers: a Survey of Western American Art" examines the involvement of American and immigrant artists in the opening of the American West.
The Abendigo Band is a six piece group of University Music majors who will soon depart on a tour of Western Montana.
Alpine Artisans are a lively established group of artists dedicated to bring recognition of the arts here, and support of the younger local artists through scholarships and local programs. The major fund raisers of the group, the Wine and Chocolate Social and the Fish and Loon Festival occur in February and May. If you are interested in membership to Alpine Artisans and promoting art and artists, please call 677-3474 for reservations for this delightful evening.
