Seeley Swan Pathfinder
When the local Quiltmakers of the Tamaracks Quilt Guild were deciding on a name for our third annual quilt show and sale on July 10th, we thought we needed a catchy name. Penny Copps, owner of Deer Country Quilts, volunteered her husband, Jack, to come up with a name for us. Being the clever person that he is, he soon came up with a plethora of names. We enjoyed his list very much and chose "Y2Q." It means a "Year to Quilt" but as we all know, to quilters, that is every year.
Then we thought we needed a raffle quilt to go along with the show. We gathered a design idea, material from our stashes and our sewing machines and went to the Community Hall for two days and sewed like crazy. The quilt turned out beautifully. The name? "Millennium Star" (if you look closely there is even a millennium fabric in it). So we now have the whole Y2K-millenium-Star Wars thing going on!
While we were sewing at the Community Hall, we thought - and we are a thinking bunch - "this place needs better lighting. Why don't we use some of the proceeds from the quilt raffle to improve lighting in here?" That is just what we are going to do.
The raffle quilt may be viewed at Deer Country Quilts. Raffle tickets are $5.00 each. We are only selling 200 tickets and they are going fast. The winner will be announced at the quilt show on July 10th at 4:00 p.m. (we'll call you if you win).
Why don't YOU think about attending the "Y2Q" show on July 10, 1999, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Lazy Pine Mall. There will be many quilts to view, some to purchase and a boutique for smaller items. For further information, please call 677-3199 or 677-2730.
