A Bonner woman, Gloria J. Nyquest, 54, was killed instantly Thursday, Mar. 18, at the Clearwater Junction of Highway 83 and 200.
The accident happened about 5:45 p.m. when the vehicle she was driving was hit by a west-bound semi tractor pulling an empty trailer.
According to witnesses, Nyquest, southbound on 83 and alone in her car, failed to stop at the stop sign and pulled onto 200 in front of the semi.
The semi hit the driver's side of the car and she was probably killed instantly, according to reports.
MISSOULA - Gloria J. Nyquest, 54, of Missoula, died Thursday, March 18, 1999, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident at Clearwater Junction.
Gloria was born Oct. 16, 1944, in Missoula to Tyyra and Nils G. Erickson. She was raised and educated in Missoula, attending Missoula County High School, Sentinel and Hellgate.
Gloria was married to Charles T. Nyquest on May 22, 1965. She was a member of the Toastmistresses, PTA, Five Valley Accordion Club, the Missoula Bowling League, Gourmet Club and the Sentinel Swimming Team. She was also very active in both the Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts.
"We hold in our hearts, Gloria: intrepid explorer, thought provoker, enthusiastic helper and a beautiful lady. Warm and loving, she was - and is - and always will be - Gloria Maxima."
Survivors include her husband Ted Nyquest of the family home; three sons, Erick of Salem, Ore., David of Salt Lake City and Leif of Missoula; three brothers, Ron, Robert and Nils Jr.; her mother, Tyyra Erickson; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Gloria's life was held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, at the Bonner School Gymnasium with Pastor Carl Rohr officiating. A potluck dinner followed the service, also at the school.
The family suggests memorials may be made in Gloria's name to Boy Scout Troop 5, Bonner School, Bonner, 59823.
