Members of the Seeley Lake eighth grade girls' basketball team
participated in the Anaconda Invitational Basketball Tournament
the weekend of November 5-7. The eight member team went undefeated
in all three games on Saturday to take first place in their pool.
They lost in tournament play on Sunday to Montana City, who went
on to capture second place in the tournament.
In the first game against Townsend, Seeley Lake won by a score of 37-23; Sadie Linford was high scorer with 12 points, Jessy Matthews and Hayley Blackburn had 8 points each and Lindsey Koppen contributed 9.
The second game saw the Seeley Lake Eagles against the Anaconda Copperheads with Seeley Lake winning 33-28. Lindsey Koppen was the high scorer with 26 points, Saide Linford 3, Jessy Matthews 2 and Hayley Blackburn 2.
At 8 p.m. the Eagles played Helena and won again with a score of 33-26. Lindsey Koppen shot for 20 points, followed by Sadie Linford with 8 and Jessy matthews with 5.
The girls went into tournament play on Sunday undefeated but fell to Montana City after a tough battle, 23-21.
Team members included Lindsey Koppen, Sadie Linford, Jessy Matthews, Hayley Blackburn, Angel Hammond, Brenna Daniel, Jennifer Hals and Katie Biggins.
The eighth grade girls team is planning on more tournament action throughout the coming winter and spring months.
