Local artist Cindy Torok left for New York City November 20th to help decorate the World Trade Center.
She'll be working with 10 other artists during her five-day job.
Her sister wrote and produced a play in New York, and when Cindy went to the cast party, she met the head of the World Trade Center decorating committee.
After a discussion about her decorating for Christmas in Virgill and Seeley Lake, he said he would call her if he ever needed another artist to help. She received a call in September and accepted the job.
Cindy Has painted professionally for 20 years, which has led her to shows throughout the Northwest and Canada.
Cindy has received many awards and recognition for her work. She received Best of Show two consecutive years in the Great Falls fair and an Honorable Mention at the Western Heritage Art Show.
Besides decorating for Christmas here and there, Cindy paints, carves with a chainsaw, quilts, spins wool and sews.
She is also working on her historical log cabin studio in Seeley, which will be open on the 4th of July.
Her shop will not be open year-round, but it will be open for a month at Christmas and other periods during the year.
