Marlee Brown comes up with the rebound, with support from team-mates Lara Parker, center, and Valerie Niles who had fallen to the floor.

The underdog Ladyhawks, down 5-0 in the early minutes against Valley Christian last Friday, roared to life in the second periodbefore the home crowd in the season opener and went on to chalk up a 58-50 upset win.

And, on Saturday night the Ladyhawks took control in the second half to rack Lincoln 75-50.

Picked in only fifth place in the seven-team District 5-B pre-season poll, the Ladyhakws have jumped off to a start that will move them up in the standings, with the challenge then being to hold on.

Valley Christian put on a late fourth period rally to close within five points at one time before the Ladyhawks pulled away, keeping the game out of reach for a stunned Valley Christian team.

Three Ladyhawks scored in double figures with Shannon O'Brien and Deborah Cahoon at 11 apiece, followed by Marlee Brown with 10. Close behind were Shyanne Feucht and Lara Parker with 8 apiece. Abbie Christianson and Val Niles talled 4 each, with Crystal Wood rounding out the effort with 2.

Against Lincoln, the Ladyhawks broke a stalemate in the third period on a 14-0 run behind lead scorer Deborah Cahoon's 23 points and rolled on to an easy 75-50 win.

Marlee Brown added 15 points and Shyanne Feucht 11 in support, with Abbie Christianson adding 9, Shannon O'Brien 6, Lara Parker 5, Katie Mathew, Erika Styler, and Crystal Wood 2 each.
