Seeley Swan Pathfinder
Seeley Lake, Montana
The Blackfoot Chapter of the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation
will present to the public George Knapp and Chuck Sundstrom's
Traveling Trunk. The trunk will contain a "hands-on"
presentation that will include items familiar to the Lewis and
Clark Expedition. On Thursday, April 13 the men will give a presentation
to the Seeley Lake Elementary School at 1:30 p.m. The public is
invited to the Clearwater Guest Ranch, near the junction of Highway
200, for an evening presentation and reception. There will be
a dessert potluck at 6:30 p.m., just prior to the presentation.
The pair, George Knapp of Missoula and Chuck Sundstrom of Alberton, have diligently researched and recreated these items into authentic reproductions used during the expedition of the Corps of Discovery. Firearms used, tools utilized for mapping and recording the trek, personal items, and trade goods are just some of the reproductions that will be explained with historic fact and interesting commentary.
The program is sponsored by the Blackfoot Chapter. This group recently formed under the parent organization, The Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation and is working to promote programs, field trips and other activities relating to the famous expedition. Anyone interested or having questions should call Addrien Marx at 677-2445 or Marilyn Peterson at 677-3474.
