Race to the Sky
coming next week

February 10, 2000
Seeley Swan Pathfinder
Seeley Lake, Montana

Montana's premier winter event is The Race to the Sky. This dog sled race starts in Helena and continues across Montana's scenic winter country to end near Missoula.

This 350-mile dog sled race commemorates the use of sled dogs during World War II. It will have a ceremonial start on February 12 in Helena. The race will then restart in Lincoln on Sunday, February 13, and proceed to the White Tail Ranch for the first of four checkpoints in the Seeley Lake-Ovando area.

The White Tail Ranch checkpoint will be open Sunday evening through Monday morning. The Seeley Lake area checkpoints include downtown Seeley Lake, Holland Lake Lodge, and Fawn Creek Trailhead off Boy Scout Road.

Volunteers are the backbone of all of these races. They staff the check points, groom the trail, and cook meals at the check points. If you would like further information on the races or being a volunteer please contact Norman Lee at 677-3016 or email at bluestar@montana.com.
