The Seeley Lake Airport received the Airport of the Year award for the State of Montana from the Montana Aeronautics Division at the 16th Annual Montana Aviation Conference held in Billings March 1 through 4. Mike Ferguson, Montana Aeronautical Division Administrator, presented the plaque to Mike Lindemer, Airport Manager, and Wade Cebulski, Seeley Lake Flying Club President. They were accompanied by Margie Lindemer of Minnesota and Seeley Lake Flying Club members Geannette Cebulski, Bonnie and Gerry Connell, Dick and Cindy Lewis, and Jan and Dave Guelff. Flying Club supporting member Bruce Burris also flew over for the presentation and his father, Joe, came from Wyoming to join the group.

Mr. Ferguson reviewed the history of the airport and its original manager, Bud Lindemer. He told about the transfer of ownership, initiated by the Seeley Lake Flying Club, from the Missoula County Airport Authority to the State. The Club, their supporting members, and volunteers, were also commended for the tree removal, weed program initiation, seeding, fertilizing and rolling the runway, plus building a new fence to the north boundary and extending the runway in that direction.

The plaque is presently on display at Lindey's Steak House.
