Seeley Swan Pathfinder
Seeley Lake, Montana
The Seeley Lake Historical Society, in cooperation with the Blackfoot Chapter of the Lewis and Clark Trail and with the support of the Latigo Rural Fund in partnership with the Montana Community Foundation, will present the Seeley Lake Roadshow of Antiques and History on Saturday and Sunday, September 23rd and 24th. This BIG "historical" weekend will provide numerous history related highlights along with living history demonstrations, antique collections, book signings and an old time fiddlers dance. The events will be held at the Montana Pines Hideaway, one mile north of Seeley Lake.
Saturday's highlight will provide a Seeley Lake adaptation of the Antiques Roadshow, providing an opportunity for artifacts, antiques and history treasures to be appraised by qualified, licensed appraisers ($5.00 charge for each piece appraised). Appraisers will be available from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
In addition to the Roadshow, Saturday's events will open at 10:00 a.m. with live history displays (buckskinners, weaving, dugout canoe, and a McKenzie River boat), antique collections featuring Jack Copp's cameras, Jackie Buitenhuis' dolls, a variety of historical quilts, and book signings by Stan Lynde, a national syndicated cartoonist; Howard Copenhaver of the Ovando area; Bud Moore of Condon; and Mildred Chaffin of Seeley Lake. Saturday evening will celebrate the fun activities of Big Fork. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. Only a $3.00 admission fee will be charged each day.
Sunday's events will be from noon to 4:00 p.m. The live history demonstrations, antique collections and book signings will be offered throughout the day as well as a speaker for the Blackfoot Chapter of the Lewis and Clark Trail. The speaker will focus on the adventure of the Corps of Discovery. The dugout canoe and the McKenzie River boat are also of the Lewis and Clark era, creating a valuable reinforcement to the speaker.
Mark the weekend, September 23rd-24th on your calendar, so you will not miss the BIG Seeley Lake Roadshow of Antiques and History! For further information, call the Chamber of Commerce at 677-2880.
