New Fire District Board member Frank Maradeo.
Chili, salad, bread, desert, coffee and lemonade will be served starting at 6 p.m. After dinner, a great night of entertainment lies ahead. Besides the Temps and Chubby Checker, you can try your hand at Karaoke.
A 50-50 raffle will be held as well as an auction with everything from art and camping equipment to "Billy Bass". We'll also have some great door prizes.
The tickets are $5 per person or $15 per family. (Family includes 2 adults and 3 children under the age of 15).
The volunteer fire department now has 28 active volunteers, and all of them have completed the intensive 40-hour beginning firefighting class. Attending the fireman's ball will allow you the opportunity to meet all the new folks.
The proceeds go to the Volunteer Fire Department to help cover costs that the District budget does not, such as additional training and meals during training.
The Fire District was able to replace the old ambulance this year, after four years of both mechanical and electrical problems. You are invited to stop by the fire hall during business hours to check it out. Office hours are 8 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday.
Also, there were two seats open for the Fire District Board of Trustees for the election this year, but only two people applied. This means that they did not have to go through the election process and they were appointed by the Missoula County Commissioners. The new members are Cindy Lewis and Frank Maradeo.
Lewis has been with the Seeley Lake QRU for over 20 years. She has served as the QRU chief as well.
Maradeo and his wife Kathy moved to Seeley one year ago. Maradeo has been active as a volunteer firefighter since their move here. He also is a driver for the QRU.
The other board members are Bud Johnson, Jim White and Steve Johnson.
The district would like to give a special thanks to John Sytsma and Wes Wills for their three years of service on the Board.
The fire department will also host a Safety Seat Check-Up Event on April 29th at the fire hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is a great event and allows parents to purchase new car seats for $15. If you have a seat and just want to make sure it's installed correctly, there will be experts on hand to check them. Most car seats are not installed properly, which can lead to serious injury or death. Please stop by for this event.
The department is in hopes that our summer and fall are a lot easier on everyone this year, and wishes everyone a happy summer.
