Burmeisters honored as
Alpine Artisan Benefactors

Charlie and Marion Burmeister have been selected as the 2001 recipients of the Alpine Artisans 'ArtsBenefactor' Award, and will be honored at this year's 7th Annual Wine and Chocolate Social hosted by the Alpine Artisans.

And, approximately 60 art pieces will be available at this year's social. Mark your calendar for Saturday, February 10th.

Charlie and Marion are two of the founders of the Alpine Artisans, and have been instrumental in its success. For the next two years, they'll share the president's seat. They have served other positions on the board over the past years as well.

"It's a wonderful organization and we have done a lot of good in the community," Marion said. "I think it's a well respected organization."

"The purposes of it is to make the community aware of the arts and all its various forms and the artists in the communities. We also try to interest the children in the arts," Charlie said.

Marion sews, quilts, creates oil painting and pottery.

Both of them have volunteered for the Wine & Chocolate Social and the Loon and Fish Festival every year.

They are both members of AARP, and are past members of the Swan Valley Christian Singers.

Charlie was also a members of the Seeley Lake Lions Club and was the coordinator of the Radon Kit distribution in the Seeley Swan valleys for Missoula County Aging Services.

They moved to Seeley in 1988. They have two sons, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren with a third one on the way.

Besides helping to honor the Burmeisters, you'll have a chance to purchase some great artworkoil, pastels and water paintings, carvings, pottery, carpentry pieces, calligraphy, jewelry, photography, basketry, sculptures and much more make up the wonderful selection.

The pieces will be on display at First Valley Bank from February 5th to the 9th.

The proceeds from this event fund the Alpine Artisans yearly $500 scholarship awarded to a graduating Seeley Swan High School senior.

The event will be held at Montana Pines in the Golden Garter Saloon from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Montana Pines is located north of Seeley Lake behind the Elkhorn Cafe off Highway 83.

This year's social will also include Hors d'oeuvres prepared and served by the Swan Valley Elementary School Spanish Club students. The club will not charge for the Hors d'oeuvres, but it will accept donations.

And of course delicious chocolates, wine, coffee and other soft drinks will be available.

A silent auction will be followed by a live auction for the art created by the members of the Artisans guild.

Admission is $10. Your admission may be used toward the purchase of any item.
