The Blackhawks, with a 3-15 overall regular season record, and only one District 5-B win, will be hungry for the upset in district tournament play that begins Wednesday at Loyola Ram Activity Center in Missoula. The Hawks meet Loyola in first round action.

The Hawks have had their moments, like holding District 5-B leader Deer Lodge to only a 53-43 win last week, but their moments in many games has been thwarted by an unusually hot offensive spurt by their opponents, like the last regular season game last week when two Plains' seniors combined for 54 points on their way to a 70-51 win.

Brian Gallea scored 14 and Abe Madinger 13 as the Hawks gave up scoring margins in only the first period (10-17) and third period (14-11) against the number one team in District 5-B. Ladd Gordon added 6 along with Logan Rammel's 6, and Ty Broesder and Scott Johnson had 2 each.

Against Plains, the Hawks were only down by 7 at halftime, 27-20, but Plains senior Jack Revier led his team with 3 of his 5 three-pointers in the second half on the way to the game high 34 points, with strong support from team-mate Scott Rice who had 20.

Abe Madinger led the Hawks with 13 points, 9 of them on free throws, and Ladd Gordon added 11, Brigan Gallea 8, Logan Rammel 5, Ryan Plum 5, David Pitman 4, Ty Broesder 4, and Scott Johnson 1.

At Ram Activity Center, the Hawks meet the home, and number two, team, Loyola, Wednesday at 6 p.m. Tournament seeding standings are Deer Lodge, Loyola, Valley Christian, Frenchtown, Florence, Darby and Seeley-Swan.
