On Saturday, June 2, the YMCA Seeley Swan Outreach program held its annual Bike Rodeo. Several kids turned out to learn about bicycle safety and test their skills on the obstacle course. Officer Pat Turner of the Missoula County Sheriff's Department was on hand to talk about the importance of wearing bicycle helmets and the basic safety rules. Officer Pat also checked helmets for size and fit, and those who needed new helmets were given ones donated by St. Patrick Hospital and Health Sciences Trauma Services. A BIG thank you to them for their time and donations. The kids were also given certificates of participation, tee shirts, water bottles and snacks! With the new bike trail through town, more bicycle traffic is expected, so keep a look out for the children of our community!!
Annie Marlatt, outgoing Program Coordinator, and Kathie O'Brien, new program coordinator, assisted Officer Pat with fitting helmets and handing out refreshments to the bikers. A big thanks to Vicki Vogelin, volunteer mom, for all her help as well. A special THANK YOU to Annie Marlatt for all her time and energy spent with the YMCA Outreach. She has done a GREAT JOB!!! Without Annie's devotion and efforts, the many YMCA programs that have been developed over the year would not be possible. Please watch for continuous updates on the YMCA programs going on this summer - gymnastics, outdoor fun camp and swimming lessons, in our ad sponsored by Wold's Valley Market.
