Celtic Dragon Pipe Band
Summper Camp Concert

The Celtic Dragon Pipe Band announces their Summer Camp Concert, Thursday, June 14 at the Camp Paxson Amphitheatre in Seeley Lake. Beginning at 7:00 p.m. and coinciding with a week's training at Camp Paxson, the band is in town with their world class Canadian instructors to hone their skills for the upcoming pipe band competition season. The public is welcome to attend, and see the band and instructors perform. A nominal donation will be requested from adult patrons, and music lovers are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs.

The regionally famous Celtic Dragon Pipe Band features fifteen bagpipers and eight drummers, all from Western Montana, under the direction of Pipe Major Bob Laing. Bill Nese is the drum corps seargent. Playing traditional Scottish and Irish tunes, the band performs and competes throughout Montana and in Spokane, Washington, Calgary and Canmore, Alberta, and this year in Portland, Oregon.

A rare treat will be in store for Seeley Lake this year, as the camp was formerly held on Flathead Lake. In town to instruct all week and perform Thursday night will be:

Ann Gray - A Calgary, Alberta based professional piper who is known for her original compositions and gold medal winning performances in Canada and in major Scottish events. Ann's CDs are considered benchmarks in current piping circles. Ann also plays in the band Seanachie, a Celtic band out of Calgary.

Rob Barrick - From Portland Oregon, Rob has been a professional bagpiper for many years, written original music and performed and recorded with his wife in their top Celtic band Raven. He also produced music recording sessions for other artists, making him one of the most versatile contemporary pipers in North America.

Ed Neigh - Ed is a respected piping judge and performer from Wellesley, Ontario. In his first year with the camp, Ed is expected to enhance the training provided to area pipers and we are very pleased to welcome him.

Glenn Wright - Glenn is the highest caliber snare drummer you will ever witness. He has played and competed his entire life, including the World Championships in Scotland with the Abbotsford Police Pipe Band. He lives in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The band and its instructors are looking forward to a pleasant week in Seeley Lake, and welcome the public to the Thursday evening show.
