Seeley Lake Wrestling Club News
This past weekend four members of the Seeley Lake Wrestling Club competed in the AAU State Freestyle Championships in Belgrade, MT. In order to compete at AAU, you must qualify at the State tournament, so only the best wrestlers from around the state were there. With 1,058 wrestlers competing, the kids had to give 110% and wrestle with lots of heart just to place, and all the kids did just that.
Josh Peterson led the way. He pinned all his opponents, two of them when he was trailing in the match, on his way to becoming the Midget 112 lb. State AAU Champion. Joe Moderie followed Josh with outstanding wrestling. He pinned six of his opponents, five of them in 151 seconds or less, but lost a hard fought championship match, to finish with the silver. Colton Dunlap finished in fifth place with some great wrestling. Cody Hard hit a little bad luck and an injury, but wrestled with a lot of heart. He had to not only fight his opponents, but also the pain of his injury. He did great and placed fifth. All the wrestlers fought like champions.
Next week is the USAW State Championship in Butte.
Final results:
State Champ - Josh Peterson
Second Place - Joe Moderie
Fifth Place - Colton Dunlap and Cody Hard
This week's Quick Pin goes to Josh Peterson. He pinned his opponent in 110 seconds.
