Seeley Swan Pathfinder
March 5, 1998
A record 156 runners completed the 19th Annual Snow Joke Half-Marathon held
Saturday, February 28th. The previous record was 123 finishers in 1992.
The high turnout is a result of the mild winter due to El Nino, which has
encouraged many to run during the normally inclement season.
Brett Winegar of Columbia Falls was the overall winner in a time of 78 minutes 22 seconds. Christina Carrigan of Missoula was the first woman in a time of 88:58.
In the 40 and older division, Louie Van Duzer of Columbia Falls paced the field in 82:24. First woman in that division was Kathy River of Clancy in 93:58.
In the 15 and younger division, Matt Cozby of Anaconda won in 112:16. For the ladies, Hillary Buettner of Kalispell and Jaclyn Hillstead of Lakeside won in a tie at 130:08.
Those Seeley Lake residents completing the run were Andrew Gideon in 90:52, Loren Rose in 97:22, Lynn Carey in 99:03 and Joy Stocking in 123:13.
