New Seeley Lake Trail System attracts Nordic Skiers
The Snow is Best
in the Seeley Swan
Nordic (cross country) skiing is a popular and growing winter
sport in the Seeley Swan communities that are blessed with an
abundance of snowfall. For years families and individuals have
ventured onto roads and snowmobile trails, but now Seeley Lake
has its own Nordic Ski Trails where no motorized vehicles are
permitted. Constructed just two years ago by the USFS Seeley Lake
Ranger District, the trails cover an 11-mile course with groomed
trails of varying difficulty. The new trail system is one of the
most popular in Northwest Montana and hosts many events by Missoula
ski clubs. The annual O.S.C.R. (Over Seeley's Creeks & Ridges)
Nordic Races are held at the new trail system located at the north
edge of town and one mile east of Highway 83 on Cottonwood Lakes
Road at the junction of Morrell Creek Road.
